Dr. Mauvais-Jarvis is an NIH-funded physician-scientist. His research program ranges from basic research to translational approaches and clinical studies to better understand the role of biological sex (chromosomes) and sex hormones (estrogens, androgens, and progestogens) in metabolism and metabolic disease. He is a recognized leader in sex-based biology and medicine (SBM). He is currently an advisory committee member of Tulane’s NIH K12 Building Interdisciplinary Careers in Women’s Health Research (BIRCWH) Program. In 2021, Dr. Mauvais-Jarvis launched the Tulane-sponsored Center of Excellence in Sex-Based Precision Medicine (CESPM). He oversees the basic and translational research projects within COBRE-SPM, is the primary contact for NIH, and handles the day-to-day administration of the Center with the assistance of Dr. Xu, Administrative Director of the COBRE-SPM
